Toy Story Midway Mania and Pixar Place are Great Places to Visit

Photo and Story by BruceWDW

One of my favorite places to visit in Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) is in the area encompassing Pixar Place, Mickey Avenue and Animation Courtyard. There is so much to do and see that you can spend a good part of your day here and not realize it. I particularly love walking around Pixar Place, with the wide variety of toys and games as decorations; and of course, Toy Story Midway Mania. Pixar Place is physically situated just behind the Chinese Theatre housing The Great Movie Ride at one end, and if you can the wall at the other end, You’ll be at Rosie’s All-American Café. Where else can you find larger-than-life characters and toys we all still love, and which are very familiar from the Pixar hits of Toy Story 1, 2 and 3. For example, the Green Army Men on the roof tops and Monkeys in a Barrel hanging across the street from one building to the next. This is also an area of meet-and-greet for the Toy Story film characters. [Click Here to continue story.]

Tips for a Child's First Walt Disney World Vacation

One of our own Minnie Moms, Janine, asked for some help from the rest of the gang this month.  In late September, she and her husband will be bringing their two and a half year old daughter to Walt Disney World for her first visit.  Nine requested the other ladies offer their advice for this journey.

A bit of background in case you've not read Nine's planning blog.  She and her husband live in the UK and have visited WDW many times so she knows what to do to prepare the adults, plan the trip, etc.  Hotel and airline reservations have been made, park hopper tickets have been purchased, international travel paperwork has been filed.  They visited Disneyland Paris this summer.  But like most moms taking her child to a new place far from home, Nine would like a little reassurance from her friends. About the Author:

I think watching a True-Life Adventure called The Living Desert  started my enthusiastic love of Disney; I must have seen this film every year I was in elementary school. Of course there was the original Mickey Mouse Club which encouraged me to watch Walt Disney Presents (and its successors). Then the 1964-65 World's Fair introduced me to many new and future technologies (Wow, I can actually see people on the telephone!); but mostly it was the awe and imagination that Walt Disney infused into that exposition which started me on my present path. Much of my life's enjoyment has revolved to a great degree around the imagination and creations of Walt Disney, and to enjoy the work of those who he inspired. So where else would Mary Ann and I go on our honeymoon but Walt Disney World two years after it first opened, and the adult love story began (both my marriage and Disney devotions). Skip ahead to today, and I'm writing blogs and posting information for the world to act upon (particularly contests) and use (like the trip planning information in A World View). Two children and four grandchildren later, we still look forward to a Walt Disney World vacation, of course with family, but also just the two us absorbing and enjoying the most magical place on earth.

Again, good luck and have a magical day.
